UGA’s Savannah River Ecology Lab appoints Lauren Maynor as its first Science Content Strategist

AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA, January 12, 2024 – The University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory has announced the appointment of Lauren Maynor as the first ever Science Content Strategist to effectively bridge the gap between researchers and the general public. Maynor brings a bachelor’s degree in English, a concentration in professional writing, and an extensive background in social media with experience in biology.
In her new role, Maynor will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive content strategy that effectively communicates the lab’s research findings, initiatives, and environmental conservation efforts to diverse audiences.
Her role will include leading the lab’s social media team and writing an extensive array of communication pieces highlighting SREL’s impact and research endeavors.
“I am excited to be able to take the amazing research done at SREL and turn it into engaging and accessible content for everyone,” Maynor said. “In this position, I feel like I am able to express my creativity and love for science in the content that I create. I also couldn’t ask for a better team to work with as I start my new career.”
Maynor started her tenure at SREL on Dec. 1, 2023.
