SREL hires Hurst as Animal Caretaker
Amanda Hurst has been hired by the University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory in the position of animal caretaker and outreach educator.
Her primary responsibilities include caring for the animals used in the lab’s outreach education program and assisting with presentations.
Hurst previously worked at SREL as a lab technician. Her professional experience includes working for the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and handling outreach education Earth Day activities for The First Tee of Augusta. She has extensive training in the proper care of amphibians and reptiles, and she is also an experienced conservation and environmental educator.
She holds an associate degree in biology and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Augusta State University.
