Study Information

Study Information

PFAS are man-made chemicals used in things like non-stick pans, waterproof clothes, and some cosmetics because they resist water, oil, and heat. They are called “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down easily and can build up in our bodies, potentially causing health problems.

  • Families, as defined by the study, must have at least 3 household members.
  • Household members must live at the listed address in Richmond County of Augusta, Georgia for more than 180 days (6 months) in a year.
  • Household members eat with other members at the home at least 3 times every week.
  • The household member completing this food diary (questionnaire) must be 18+ years old.

What you will be doing?

One of the family/household members who is 18 years old or older will keep a food diary and collect food and drink samples for 1 week during the study. On the second week, the researcher will collect all food, drink, and hair samples from each participant
