Want to learn about wildlife native to Burke County? Then be sure to attend Ecology Day on Saturday, June 2.

Presented by the University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL), the event will be held at Cornerstone Christian Center, located at 710 Stone Ave. in Waynesboro, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers say the day will be a combination of learning and fun. Attendees will have the chance to get up close and personal with wildlife while learning about the educational environmental monitoring resources available in the county. They’ll also participate in science demonstrations and have the opportunity to sign up for the Citizens Science Program while meeting members of UGA’s SREL staff.

Several local businesses and community organizations will also be set up at the event, which is free and open to all county residents.
