REMOP is a community outreach program designed to educate Burke County residents about environmental monitoring, including metals and radioactive elements. The program is supported by the Atlanta-based non-profit, Georgia Women’s Action for New Directions.

What was surprising, was that in the short time span before invertebrates decimated carcasses, usually less than two days, some raccoons were able to find these tiny carcasses and utilize them as a food resource.
Panelists will discuss the current radiological environmental programs serving the Central Savannah River Area.
The presentation will cover the components of environmental monitoring programs.

Efforts to manage the growth of the wild pig population have fallen short, but researchers from the University of Georgia are testing new data-gathering tools that will help guide future control measures.
