Touch an Animal Day returns to Savannah River Ecology Lab Saturday
The eighth annual Touch an Animal Day will return to the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory on Saturday.
The free event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon at SREL’s conference center at 3280 Williston Road in Windsor.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see, touch and learn about animals and plants that are native to the Savannah River Site and surrounding communities.
Also Saturday, graduate students will present different research topics, including impacts of coal energy on wildlife and methods for controlling wild pig populations.
In addition to getting up close and personal with the animals, the event will feature an edible plant display. Organizers said the display will leave guests with a unique and delightful taste in their mouths.
SREL is a part of the University of Georgia.
