SREL Conference Center

map From the intersection of Hwy 19 and Hwy 278, go east on 278. After 3.5 miles a gravel road will appear on the left, marked by a low wooden sign on the left and a green Department of Transportation sign on the right. Follow the gravel road until you reach the conference center. No SRS security badge is necessary on the conference center grounds. However, the center will be locked unless an event has been scheduled. If necessary, call your host in advance to insure that you will have access.

SRS Visitor Control Office / SREL

mapFrom Columbia, SC: Take I-20 west to Aiken. Take Exit 22 (Hwy 1 / Columbia Hwy) and turn left, heading south into Aiken. Hwy 1 will become York St. Follow York St. through downtown Aiken, until it dead-ends into South Boundary Rd. (Do not follow the signs for Hwy 1; stay on York.) Turn right onto South Boundary, and then make an immediate left onto Whiskey Rd. (Hwy 19). Then follow the directions from Aiken (below).

From Aiken, SC: Take Hwy 19 (Whiskey Rd.) south through the town of New Ellenton, to the intersection of Hwy 19 and Hwy 278. Proceed through the intersection and immediately bear right onto SRS Road 1. Continue four miles on Road 1, until reaching a stoplight. (You will pass a sign for SREL; keep going.) Continue straight through the intersection. You will see several brick buildings and a very large parking lot on the left, shortly after the traffic light. The badge office is in this complex. Turn left into this parking lot (entrance is marked by a Visitor Control sign), and park here. As you drive into the lot from Road 1, the office is almost directly in front of you. (It is slightly to your left.) Proceed to the Visitor Control Office, located in building 703-A, to receive your badge.

From Downtown Augusta, GA: Go east on Broad St.; Broad St. will become Sandbar Ferry Rd. (Hwy 28). Go under I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway) and follow instructions (below) from Sandbar Ferry Rd.

From Athens/Atlanta, GA: Take I-20 east to Augusta, GA. Near Augusta, take I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway) east to Laney Walker Blvd. / Sandbar Ferry Rd. exit. You will be on Laney Walker Blvd., which will dead-end into Sandbar Ferry Rd. (Hwy 28). Turn right onto Sandbar Ferry Rd., and continue 3.1 miles to Beech Island. At Beech Island, bear right onto Hwy 125 South. Follow Hwy 125 to Jackson (13 miles). In Jackson, turn left on SRS Road 1 (marked by a DOE Savannah River Site sign). Continue on Road 1 for approximately 2.5 miles. You will see several brick buildings and a very large parking lot on the right. The badge office is in this complex. Turn right into this parking lot (entrance is marked by a Visitor Control sign), and park here. As you drive into the lot from Road 1, the office is almost directly in front of you. (It is slightly to your left.) Proceed to the Visitor Control Office, located in building 703-A, to receive your badge.

From the Visitor Control Office to SREL: Exit the parking lot and turn right onto SRS Road 1. At the stoplight, turn right, and proceed to the security checkpoint. Bring your vehicle to a complete stop, and present your visitor's badge to the security officer on duty. (You may also be selected for a vehicle inspection.) Continue through the checkpoint and around a curve; SREL is on the left, immediately after the curve. Park in the large parking lot on the right, across the street from SREL.
