My research interests focus on the fate and transport of contaminants through porous media at multiple scales. I currently use small and medium scale lab experimental designs in conjunction with field scale tracer experiments and modeling techniques to examine scale dependent hydraulic parameters influencing contaminant transport. The primary aim of my work is to incorporate the influence of scale dependence on management decisions and remediation activities. Working on monitoring contaminant movement has led me to sensor design and I am currently working on sensor and sampling automation as well as wireless systems for lab use as well as remote real-time monitoring of multiple environmental parameters. In addition to the movement of solute and solution in unsaturated porous media, I am interested in wetland restoration, specifically hydrologic response to treatments in depression wetlands (Carolina bays) which are prevalent on the Atlantic Coastal Plain. I have a background in Natural Resources and Ecology in addition to Soil Physics.
