Feeding Ecology of Little Blue Herons at a Radionuclide-contaminated Reservoir

A. H. Domby and R. W. McFarlane

Summary

The significantly different radiocesium levels within a radionuclide-contaminated nuclear reactor cooling reservoir system are reflected in the differentially contaminated prey of Little Blue Herons.  The significant differences in radiocesium body burdens between nestlings from different nests indicate that a tendency exists for the adults of a small heronry to use spatially separated feeding areas.
