Ecological and Radioecological Investigations at the AEC Savannah River Plant

Summary

Twenty-three research and auxiliary activities carried out under contract AT(38-1)-310 during the period June, 1964, to June, 1965, are summarized.  Research projects are discussed under three headings:  (1) studies of community structure and function, (2) effects of radiation on populations, and (3) use of radionuclides to measure ecological processes.  Auxiliary activities included contribution to AEC supported Puerto Rico Rain Forest project, development and maintenance of a research library of SREL, publication of game and fish surveys made earlier at SRP, and publication of a TID Bulletin on onsite research at SREL.

Twelve papers were published during the contract year and 16 additional papers are in press.  Five additional published papers supported in part by the contract are listed.  The staff read 11 papers at scientific meetings, including three invited papers at international congresses or symposia.
